Why Sulfate Free Hair Products?

You have probably noticed lately how the hair industry is advertising Sulfate and Paraben free products. But do you know why?  What exactly are Sulfates and Parabens?
Sulfate is a detergent, a (foaming agent).  It’s what makes the bubbles. Those bubbles actually remove moisture from your hair. You don’t need bubbles to get your hair clean. “WEN” a “Cleansing Conditioner” is, in my mind, the best true Sulfate Free Shampoo. “DevaCurl”  “No Poo” is a close second. WEN is first, in my opinion because there are different fragrances to choose from. These two products  have no bubbles
(lather) at all.
Parabens are basically preservatives which extend the shelf life of products. Parabens have displayed the ability to slightly mimic estrogen. This is becoming increasingly controversial, whether or not
they actually cause cancer.  No direct links between Parabens and Cancer have been established.
The Sulfate Free Shampoos and Conditioners I retail are;  Pravana Hydrating Shampoo,  Volumizing, Biogenal and  DevaCurl  NoPoo. For my HotHeads Extension wearers I always recommend “HotHeads”
“ Smooth”.
Whatever you choose for your shampoo and  conditioners  make  it a good one. I’m sure you spend a lot of  money on your hair, you shouldn't use cheap products that can cause damage. Truth be told Salon products are highly concentrated and you will not use as much  as you would a store bought product.
Remember  you won't have a lot of lather with your sulfate free shampoo.  You might even think you didn’t use enough. More than likely you did.
DIRECTIONS: Rinse scalp and hair for about a minute or two, Then massage shampoo into your  Scalp.  You want to clean your scalp really well, mid shaft next, ends last. Your ends don't need as much cleaning as your scalp. For the most part while rinsing your  shampoo, your ends will get clean. After rinsing if it doesn’t feel clean,  repeat.
This information is meant to be informative and based solely on my opinion and findings.
